At the recent I/O developers’ conference, Google’s Clay Bavor, VP of virtual reality reportedly announced the launch of Google’s new Daydream platform that is set to deliver quality VR experience across the entire Google App ecosystem. The runaway success of Google Cardboard-enabled VR app & headset that triggered over 50 million downloads more or less prompted Google to take the major leap forward.
During the conference, Google unveiled the blue print of its Daydream project- a new virtual reality platform will be introduced in new sets of mobile devices dubbed as Android N phones. Google has associated with top mobile manufacturers such as Samsung, Alcate, HTC, Asus, Xiaomi, LG, ZTE and Huawei to develop smartphones with Daydream-ready, Android VR technology. The first installment of Daydream-ready Android N phones are slated to release somewhere in Q3, 2016. Besides that, Google will also be launching a new “reference design” to go along with its VR headset and controller combo package.
